The O'hare Fashion Packed Challenge is a design competition held by O'hare International Airport. In this competition, the goal was to design and create a garment for the everyday traveler within just two weeks. When I think of an everyday traveler, I mostly think of business people who often have to travel for their jobs. My take on the everyday traveler in this garment was a business women who likes to present herself in a stylish, yet sophisticated manner. Wearing this dress, she looks good and feels confident, yet she is polished and dressed professionally. Another aspect to this competition was to connect your design to an inspiration item given from one of the airport retailers. The item I chose was a Brighton Metal Disk Bracelet. I took inspiration from the white disks on the bracelet and played with the sizing as well using different sizes of white grommets. Each grommet is placed in between each inverted pleat, giving off a chic, yet classy and sophisticated look for a business event.
